Subscription Management Terms

Before We Begin 

Here you will find the Subscription Management Terms covering the handling of your subscription, including cancellation, upgrading, and downgrading. We have designed these terms for clarity and ease of understanding.

These Subscription Management Terms act as an addendum to our General Terms and Conditions (GT&C). The terms contained here are incorporated into the GT&C as additional terms. Our GT&C constitute the complete legal agreement and take precedence over these terms in the event of any conflict.

1. For Scholar & Team Users

Your subscription renews automatically at the end of your billing period. This period is either monthly or yearly, based on your selection during the purchase process.

For instance, a monthly subscription started on 23rd July will renew on 22nd August. Yearly subscriptions renew 12 months from the start date.

Cancel Anytime: Cancel your subscription at any time before your next renewal date. Once cancelled, your subscription will remain active and you can continue using it until the end of your current paid billing period.

2. For Organisational & Sites Users

Your subscription automatically renews at the end of your agreed billing period. This billing period can be yearly, or multi-yearly, as selected when purchasing on our website or as  set out in your specific quote or agreement with our sales team.

30-Day Notice: To cancel and avoid being charged for the next billing period, you must submit your cancellation request at least 30 days before your upcoming renewal date.

Quick example: If your renewal date is 1st June, your cancellation must be submitted by 2nd May at the latest.

3. Upgrading your Subscription

You may upgrade your subscription to access additional features or credits. To upgrade your subscription, select your desired subscription option via our website and proceed to checkout. Upon successful completion of payment for the new subscription, the upgrade will take effect immediately. Your previous subscription will terminate, and your new, upgraded subscription will commence. The full price for the billing period of your new subscription (monthly, yearly, or multi yearly) will be charged, commencing from the date of the upgrade. Immediate access will be granted to all features and higher limits included with your new subscription. You can keep any credits or allowances you hadn't used from your old subscription. 

Next renewal: Your subscription will thereafter automatically renew at the conclusion of this new billing period, based on your upgraded subscription.

4. Downgrading your Subscription

You may downgrade your subscription at any time to reduce its allowance or features. You can initiate the downgrade process by selecting your desired lower subscription via our website and confirming the downgrade at checkout.

Although you request the downgrade immediately, you will retain the features and limits of your current subscription (including data storage and credit allowances) until the end of your current billing period. The change to the downgraded subscription will become effective at the commencement of your next billing period.

5. Life after cancellation: data & features

Once you’ve cancelled and your subscription period has ended, you lose access to the paid features of your plan.

All your existing data remains in your account, but if you’ve exceeded the free storage limit, any “extra” data gets frozen. You won’t be able to export it until you reduce it or upgrade again.

If you cancel your subscription, your connected Transkribus Sites platform automatically goes offline. 

6. The 14-day right of withdrawal

If you qualify as a Consumer you can:

  • Withdraw within 14 days of subscribing. No reason needed.
  • But if we’ve already provided the entire service before your 14 days are up (for example, you’ve used all your credits)—no withdrawal is possible at that point.

How to withdraw?

And the Refund? 

We’ll pay you back in full within 14 days via the same method you paid, unless we make other arrangements.

7. Refunds

No refunds are provided, except in the context of the right of withdrawal detailed above. If cancellation is not pursued according to sections 2 and 3 of these terms, your subscription will continue to be active until the end of the next billing period, provided you cancel.

8. When do we really say goodbye? 

Canceling or downgrading your subscription doesn’t make the GT&C disappear. They’re still in force as long as you have an account with us or use any of our products or services.
